VTC Roles & Permissions

Roles define your VTC’s hierarchy and control what members can do. This guide covers creating roles, assigning permissions, and managing your role structure.

  1. Navigate to your VTC’s management panel
  2. Select Roles from the sidebar
  3. You’ll see all existing roles and their details

If you hit the limit, you’ll see a warning. Apply for Verified status to unlock unlimited roles.


  1. Click Create New Rank in the top right
  2. Fill in the role details:
    • Role Name (required, max 50 characters)
    • Description (optional)
    • Color (choose a color for the role badge)
  3. Click Create Role

The role is now available to assign to members.


Click the edit icon on any role card to open the edit modal. You can manage three tabs:

  • Role Name — Change the display name
  • Description — Update the role description
  • Color — Change the badge color

Changes are saved when you click Save Changes.

Configure what members with this role can do. Permissions are grouped by category:

Management Permissions:

  • management.vtc.edit — Edit VTC settings
  • management.vtc.members — Manage members
  • management.vtc.roles — Manage roles
  • management.vtc.recruitment — Manage recruitment
  • management.vtc.news — Post news
  • management.vtc.events — Create events

Other Permissions:

  • Additional permissions may be available based on your VTC’s configuration

Use Select All to grant all permissions in a category, or Deselect All to remove them.

View all members who have this role:

  • See member names and WebIDs
  • Remove the role from individual members
  • See how many members hold this role

  1. Click the trash icon on the role card
  2. Confirm the deletion in the modal
  3. Members with this role will lose it

Warning: This action cannot be undone.


Members can hold up to 4 roles simultaneously.

  1. Go to Members in the sidebar
  2. Click the edit icon next to a member
  3. Check/uncheck roles in the modal
  4. Changes are saved automatically
  1. Open a role’s edit modal
  2. Go to the Users tab
  3. Use the interface to manage who has this role

Owner (built-in, cannot be removed)

  • Owner — Full control (built-in)
  • Admin — All management permissions
  • Moderator — Member management, news, events
  • Senior Driver — Limited permissions, mentorship role
  • Driver — No special permissions (default role)
  • Start simple and add roles as needed
  • Use colors to visually distinguish hierarchy
  • Write clear descriptions for each role
  • Review permissions regularly
  • Don’t over-complicate your structure

  • Roles appear as colored badges
  • Members can have up to 4 role badges visible
  • The owner badge is always shown for VTC owners
  • All assigned roles are listed for each member
  • Unranked members show “Unranked” (except owners)
  • Role colors match the configured colors

  • Standard VTCs are limited to 20 roles
  • Delete unused roles or apply for Verified status
  • Verified VTCs have unlimited roles

  • Ensure they have the management.vtc.edit permission
  • Check that the permission is assigned to their role
  • Only owners can access certain settings
  • Ensure no members have this role, or reassign them first
  • The owner role cannot be deleted
  • You must have permission to manage roles
  • Check if the role was deleted
  • Review the activity log for role changes
  • Reassign the role from the Members page
